FUKUSHIMA: "SMALL INCREASED CANCER RISK"

People living near the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan have an increased risk of developing some cancers following the 2011 disaster, the World Health Organization says.

This notice for a lot of people is probably an evidence but, one more time, it’s more evidence that we, humanity, are causing the most of our own deaths and diseases. It sounds like a topic but we have to change our minds and start to change our attitude. The governments and the big companies have to start to create energy with solar panels and windmills. They have to produce more renewable energy, they have to persuade all the people that this energy is the best. Only in this way, nuclear plants will disappear and we will do a very important step in our evolution. Of course, the current people also have a very important role, we have to start to give opportunities to this energy, saving energy and, if we can, start to produce our own energy; there’re already houses that only works with the energy they produce and with the water they collect.

It sounds like an utopia but we only can get that if we all start to change our minds and we start to do it, not only to think in it.

BARÇA 1 - MADRID 3

Yesterday night, Real Madrid won FC Barcelona on the second semifinal match and it became finalist. The result of the match was Barça 1 – Madrid 3 and the result of the knockout was Barça 2 – Madrid 4.

Yesterday Madrid played a great match, with a great defense and very good counterattacks. But a Barça also had a big responsibility with the result; they did a terrible match. Messi, Iniesta and Xavi, players that never lose the ball, yesterday lost a lot of balls and did their worst match since a long time ago. It is an evidence that the main guilty that they did this so bad match are Real Madrid defenders, but it’s also true that yesterday luck wasn’t in Barça players.

All in all, as a Barça supporter, yesterday match was a shame and we went home with a big disappointment. But now, we have to correct the mistakes, forget the match and look in front of us because we can’t allow losing in more competitions.

TDR

The research project is one of the most important things in Batxillerat. The most students spend a lot of hours making the work, and they have to sacrifice a big part of the summer after 1^st Batxillerat. So the moment when you choose the topic of your project is very important. We have chosen recently the topic we want to do and in a few days they will say us if the teachers have been approved the proposal.

First of all I wanted to do a project of physics or of biology, other subjects I had thought to do the project were PE or philosophy, but I hadn’t got a clear idea and I waited the department’s proposals. But when I watched them I had a deception because there wasn’t absolutely anything minimally interesting about physics or biology. So I decided to choose a topic of philosophy but related with biology, especially biotechnology. My brother has studied biotechnology and I like this part of biology too, so I decided to watch this part of the science from a philosophical point.

I know is a little strange to do the research project about philosophy but I think this could be an interesting experience. I hope I will enjoy the topic, if Albert Piñero accepts it. 

THE HOBBIT

Like a lot of people (it’s sad that I recognize this) I’ve been a freak of “The Lord of the Rings” since I saw the first film. Actually not but when I was younger I liked to watch the three films a lot of times, I was never tired to see them and I was emotional every time I saw them. I don’t know what these films have but they have something that the rest of the films don’t have. So it’s normal that after watch the films a lot of times I was interested about “The Hobbit”.

 

One month ago, I saw the film “The Hobbit”. I had already read the book, but this was a few years ago. So as you can understand, I had been a long time expecting the film to see what would be the differences and to understand things that I hadn’t understood about the book. The truth is that the book it had been quite boring in my opinion but the film was more interesting. It was nothing new because I knew the argument and the effects were like the “the Lord of the Rings” ones. But I can say that it was a quite good film if you like this type of films.

But this was only the first part of the story, they say that it will be three films and I think that this is a good idea because in this way they can tell a lot of details that sometimes the books have and the films don’t show.

CARNIVAL 2013

Every year at these days, on February or on March, occurs an amazing event; people of around the world celebrate this great party, carnival. My friends and me and old the young people here have celebrated too carnival. Some go to party only one day, other people two or three days… in my case, I have gone to party five days in total. The best of carnival is that there are villages that celebrate carnival one or two weeks after the main carnival weekend and that makes that we can go to party during three weekends followed.

This year I went to Roses carnival on Friday two weeks ago and the following day I went to St Pere. Roses is very big and every year receives a lot of people, St Pere usually receives quite people but this year there weren’t so many people like other years.

One week later there was Castelló carnival, this is the carnival where I enjoy most. On Friday we went to Empuriabrava parade and after that we went to Castelló where there was a DJ. Friday it’s fun but the best day every year is Saturday, a lot of people of Figueres, Roses and other villages came here to the parade and after that to the party. It’s sure the best party in Castelló during the year, this year the music hasn’t been so good like other years but I suppose that it’s because of the crises.  

Yesterday night, Saturday, I went to Garriguella because a boy said me that there would be a lot of people but there weren’t and the party was very sad.

Now, I am already expecting the next Carnival because these days are one of the best times of the year.

Should the experiments in human life have limits?

Humanity has to be carefully in human experiments because we have to be responsible of the things we create and the consequences of that it can produce. But this is a question that humanity has made and it has to be analyzed carefully.

The best example is Frankenstein story. His only objective is to make something spectacular to be an important scientist, he doesn’t think about the consequences (later, these are terrible), I’m not against making a new person or make a clon but depends on the objective of it. We can’t create a person and, after that, look at him like a laboratory mouse, ignoring his thoughts and his feelings, that’s terrible. Of course, it’s good to progress in science and in technology but we have to know that we are making a new life with thoughts and feelings.

In conclusion, it’s good that scientists have these ambitions, thanks to them, we can safe ill people and the humanity can progress, but they have to put feelings and thoughts over the fame of the scientist. And if you don’t care about this, please, read Frankenstein story.

Dear Mrs Pintó,

I am Eloi Güell and you already know me, I am one of your students in chemistry. I am writing to you to explain what I think about scientist batxiller subjects because, in my opinion, these are some subjects that shouldn’t be in this batxiller because they are useless.

For example, Catalan and Spanish subjects only use for make better our writings but, if we have chosen the scientist batxiller, I think it would be better to delete these subjects and evaluate the way we write in the other subjects.

To add in, another thing that is probably wrong is put maths as an optative and philosophy as an obligatory subject. And I do not think philosophy is useless, because I think we would have to do this subject before, at ESO, for example. In batxiller we are choosing our future and maths is more basic in scientist degrees. So I think the optative has to be French-Philosophy and not Maths-French.

Finally, I want to say that CMC is totally useless. Because the people who have chosen Biology already know the most of the things of this subject and the people who are doing the social batxiller or have not chosen biology have a scarce interest in that subject and they will not use it ever. All in all, these are the changes I would do, and I hope I did not offend you.

Eloi Güell

MY DEAR BLOG

I’ve recently arrived to 1000 views in my blog and I take advantage of this occasion to do a post about my blog and to do a reflection about the utility of the blog.

I have sometimes looked at my old posts and when I do it I remember a lot of great moments of the last two years, it’s like a little summary. This is one of the reasons why I think the blog is useful.

The blog is an alternative to the papers and redactions that is far more practical and enjoyable. But we don’t leave the learning with the blog, on the contrary, we learn a lot because we have to write a lot and do a lot of posts, the best of it is that the posts are about free topics that we are interested in.

All in all, the blog is the most practical way to do and to improve our writings and to add our class learning in our redactions. And at the end of the year, it’s an easier way to remember beautiful moments and to see your progress.
