Qatar migrant workers 'treated like animals' - Amnesty

Migrant labourers work on a construction site in Doha in QatarQatar's construction sector is rife with abuse, Amnesty International (AI) has said in a report published as work begins on Fifa World Cup 2022 stadiums. Amnesty says migrant workers are often subjected to non-payment of wages, dangerous working conditions and squalid accommodation. Qatari officials have said conditions will be suitable for those involved in construction of World Cup facilities but they have not commented the last report yet.

We live in an era where our only objective is to progress as fast as possible. Countries which are growing and developing fast, like Brazil, China and United Arab Emirates are on the top of the world in economics. As a result, this should have to mean that people who live in these countries don’t have economical problems and they work in good jobs. Even though, the reality is another one; most of the people in these countries are poor and have miserable jobs if they have. Governments sacrifice people fundamental rights with the objective that big companies become bigger and richer. And most of us clap our hands to these counties for their progress.

The biggest problem is not that there are big social inequalities. The main problem is that our objective is not to solve this problem; our objective is to be on the top of the world, no matter how many people have to die if we can achieve this goal.
